There are two opportunities for aspiring automotive technicians who want to develop their skills at Vann York Auto Group:

Vann York Apprentice Program is available to current students of an accredited automotive program.

Vann York Technician Development Program is available to graduates or soon-to-be graduates of an accredited automotive program.

Vann York Apprentice Program

Vann York apprentices have the opportunity to apply learned skills and earn an income while completing the automotive program. Apprentices work as express technicians and their schedules are developed around their automotive program’s courses. This opportunity allows them to get a head start on their technician career.

Vann York Technician Development Program

Vann York Auto Group offers a Vann York technician fast track career path for automotive service technicians. They spend their first 60 to 90 days transitioning from being a student to being a skilled technician under the supervision of a tenured technician mentor.

Program Incentives

  • Tool Allowance Program: An initial bonus to be allocated towards tools will be awarded upon hire and a monthly tool allowance will be awarded for an additional 12 months.
  • ASE Certification Reimbursement: For each certification passed while in the Vann York Technician Program, technicians will be reimbursed for the exam fee.

Phase 1: Express Technician (0 – 12 months)

  • Primarily accountable for maintenance and upkeep of vehicles and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • After 6 months, Vann York Auto Group will review progress, dependability, attitude, team work efforts and skill set to determine transition to skilled automotive technician.
  • Responsibilities include quick services, oil and filter changes, tire rotation, battery exchange, fluid exchange, brake work, and alignments.

Phase 2: Skilled Automotive Technician (12 – 24 months)

  • Functions as an experienced technician able to perform diagnoses and repairs of most vehicle components.
  • Licensed as state inspector.
  • Responsibilities include repairs and replacements of vehicle parts, diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, providing customer service and support, and maintaining customer and vehicle records.

Phase 3: ASE/Brand Certified Automotive Technician (24+ months)

  • With company support, the technician will complete and pass the eight tests required to become an ASE Master Technician or meet the criteria for brand-based certifications.
  • The eight required test certifications include: engine repair, automatic transmission, manual drive train and axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning, and engine performance.
